Family School Project

This past week Natalie received her first ever school project! And I think that David and I were more excited than her. We literally had to remind ourselves that this was her project and not ours! Hahahaha! She had to make a diorama of the rainforest. And here's the finished project. To be truthfull it was a family effort. We all did something. Natalie and I made the backgrounds, David put the the fake river and ground in. I made the vines and Natalie told me where to put them. David glued the bark and Natalie put in the animals. Some are missing in this picture cause she put them in once she was in school. Oh and at the last minute I put the grassy stuff on top.

Hmmm now that I'm writing it, it sounds like we did most of the work huh! hahahaha! No but really, she's the one who told us what she wanted and we all did a little bit! hahaha, okay I'll stop trying to convince everyone! Well whatever it was, I think it came out rather nice and I'm sure we'll be getting an A+.

Soccer Season Has Begun

After much anticipation Natalie's Soccer Spring Season has begun. And it has started with a bang.

She has improved soooooooo much, I'm amazed at what a better player she has become!

Her team's color is dark purple, and they named themselves Purple Panthers again. Here she is at her first game with her Best Friend from soccer. I was so into the game that I totally forgot to take pictures or video during the game. I only got these two pictures. They started the season off really well 10-0. We have 5 returning players from our team and 4 new girls who still have a lot to learn but really held there own. Natalie scored 4 of those 10 winning points. She really shined out there.

I can't wait for the rest of the games!

I know Mother's Day already passed but I still wanted to blog about it. And anyways, we're still going to have our Mother's day celebration at church this Saturday!

Anyways, holidays for me aren't the best because David really doesn't like holidays or celebrating. He's just not use to it, and I love holidays! In my family any holiday was celebrated!

But my morning started sweetly because Natalie gave me this cute little box with yummy cupcakes inside. She had prepared them in Achievement Day in church. Most of them got eaten by her and Jaime! Aaaaa poor mommies, we don't even get to eat our own gifts! But it's okay, it's the gesture that counted!

Church is always nice because we get lots of love. Here I am at church with my sister in law Gracie!

And look at this cutie. It's her daughter! I couldn't stop taking pictures of her with those flowers. It was like she was modeling! Too Cute!

Now David hadn't given me anything or even said anything. So I was feeling kind of sad. But ofcourse like always he pulls out something out of his sleeve in his own style ofcourse.

Now let me start by saying that he's not the typical gift giver. Yes he's bought me wonderful, fancy, and expensive gifts before but he's actually more of a gift maker. He has always since we were going out has made me the most unique and thoughtful gifts. Some people have commented to me if I don't mind that he doesn't buy me things instead but you know I don't. That's what I love about him, he takes time to make intricate gifts with meaning and I think I would be sad if he ever stopped.

Well this was his latest creation that surprised me when we came home.

It was the cutest canopy bug thingy net thingy with flowers and butterflies stuck on it! With a cutout of the moon inside and a card!

Now let me tell you the back story to why he made me this. I know it may seem weird but it was really sweet.

I had been telling him about how scared I was starting to get about having to go with the girls to Young Woman's camp and having to deal with the bugs and especially the spiders that I hate. So in his card he told me that he wanted to do something that would make me feel better and reassured me that everything would be okay at camp. So that I wouldn't be so scared anymore.
That's why he put up the mosquito net and covered it with cute bugs instead and flowers. I loved it. It was so cute. It especially reminded me of something he had done a long time ago that has been my favorite thing ever. He had onced put daisies died green all over our room. (My favorite color is green!) The room looked so wonderful with pretty flowers all over!

So I have to say that Mother's Day wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! It was actually pretty nice!

CPR yeah rigth!!!

About 2 weeks ago there was an activity at church that was going to focus on getting prepared for disasters. And they included teaching us the basics of CPR. This was our instructor from the Red Cross.

Now this got me thinking. Now I'm all for taking these classes but seriously when it comes down to being in a situation like this everything I learned goes out the window!

I say this because I had taken classes like this before but when I needed them I totally forgot everything.

When Natalie was around 4 years old I had taken her one Saturday to work with me. It was a Saturday so only my friend (who was my manager), another male co-worker and I were there and ofcourse Natalie too. Ofcourse Natalie was quite the center of attention. My co-workers kept giving her candy and goodies and Natalie kept running around with them in her mouth. Yes I know, I shouldn't have let her but come on, how many of us don't let that sly once in awhile.

Anyways so in one of the instances she was running back towards me I saw that as she stopped herself harshly, the candy or whatever she was eating (never found out what it was, I'll tell why in a second) got stuck in her throat! She started trying to cough and then gasping. I became so nervous that I kind of paralized and just started saying, "She's choking, she's choking!" That's when my two co-workers ran over to see what was going on. But they just stood there too! That's when Nati started to change color, like a bluish purplish color, that's when I really freaked out and started telling my male co-worker "Don Eli help me, help me!" Well can you believe that he froze too and didn't do anything. That's when I finally snapped out of it (but ofcourse couldn't think of everything I had learned before) and started to slap her back, stick my finger in her mouth, and then I sorta punched her in her stomach. Yup, I feel so ashamed to say it but I basically semi punched her in her stomach and that's when whatever was stuck got unstuck. She finally took a breath but before I could snatch whatever was in her mouth Miss Natalie swallowed it like nothing again! She returned to her normal color and she was like nothing happened. Not one tear not anything. She went right back to playing, with nothing in her mouth ofcourse!

So yeah, I hope this time I learn things a little bit better. So that next time I'm faced with an emergency I can react way better! OR atleast hope that I'm surrounded with more prepared and helpful people!

Cinco de Mayo

In my family we never really celebrated Cinco de Mayo, so now that I have my own family we don't celebrate it either. But this year Nati came home with a permission slip to participate in the school's Cinco de Mayo celebration. She wanted to participate! I'm so amazed at her because she was really shy and embarrased before but she's worked so hard to conquer her fears and this was her second time performing at school. I thought about all the times I participated in school. I always wanted to shine and perform but my fears always got to me and I would always try to be in the back row and hide behind everyone. But not my Natalie. She came out dancing with her head held high and a smile on her face. She did seem a little nervous but she danced so good!
She looked sooooooooooooooo BEAUTIFUL! I couldn't stop taking pictures of her. In this picture below I was going to take her first picture of her when Jaime ran to get in the picture. It was so funny because he wanted to be in every shot. Not only that but he had this wood gun with Mexico written on it, he took it and stood it up and posed for the picture! I thought it was so perfect and cute!
Hahahaha here he is with his gun again! My Mexican soldado and my little dancer!

Here they are getting ready to perform on stage!

So thanks to Natalie this year we celebrated Cinco de Mayo. And I have to say that I enjoyed being patriotic and saying VIVA MEXICO! VIVA!

His Second, really His First Real Big Boy Haircut

Technically Jaimito has been getting his haircut by his Dad for awhile now. But nothing elaborate, he pretty much just cuts it all off.

And he did get his first haircut by a stylist last year. A lady at our local salon, I think I blogged about that too.

But this was his official first cut at a barber shop where he got a haircut and a line up. He really looks like his dad now. They both got a haircut the same day.
The guy said that when he gets a little bit older he can get a fade like his daddy.

We're super happy to finally have found someone to trust with David's and Jaimito's hair. We have been on a long search trying to find someone who we liked how they cut hair. There were losts of fails along the way.

So to finally find someone who was friendly enough to cut Jaime's hair and good enough to do a good job with David's was priceless! Actually it was a little pricey compared to Chicago's famous $5 cuts! Hahahaha! But it was worth it!

I can't believe how good Jaime was. I was a little nervous that he would move too much or wouldn't cooperate! But he was so good. With lollipop in his mouth he sat as still as he could the whole time!

Even as they did his line up! Look at him being so good! Not one tear fell from his eyes!

Look at him, he's just too cute!

And this is the final result! Nice and clean and short! No more crazy baby hairs on his forehead!

This is the barber who worked his magic on my boys!
